ROBIN KELLY ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT ENDORSEMENTS IN ILLINOIS TREASURER'S RACE
Influential elected and community leaders join grassroots campaign
CHICAGO - Robin Kelly today announced 43 elected officials and community leaders have joined her grassroots-driven campaign for State Treasurer in Illinois."I am honored and humbled to have the support of these community leaders and elected officials," said Robin Kelly, chief of staff to Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias and former state representative. "We are a grassroots campaign and our strength comes from the thousands of individuals who share my belief that it is time we put the needs of the people of Illinois first. The Treasurer's Office is far more than the state's bank. It provides real resources by investing in people and communities, while at the same time safeguarding their tax dollars."
After being re-elected to a third term in the Illinois House of Representatives, Robin Kelly joined Treasurer Giannoulias as his chief of staff in January 2007. Leveraging her experience in the legislature and in community development, she helped him turn the $17 billion office around by improving efficiencies, making the office more accessible to people throughout Illinois, and demanding stronger ethical guidelines. A Bradley University graduate, Robin lived in Peoria for 17 years before moving to south suburban Cook County, where she resides with her husband and children.
