Women Learn Financial Strategies

WSIU- 6/16/2010

CARTERVILLE, IL (WSIU) - For the first time in U.S. history, women outnumber men in the workforce.

Experts say that makes the financial advice outlined at the annual Smart Women Smart Money conference at John A. Logan College Tuesday even more important.

The event - hosted by the State Treasurer's office - provided women with tips on achieving financial stability.

Treasurer's Chief of Staff Robin Kelly says women have the entrepreneurial spirit just like men and are taking the skills they've learned in running households into the workplace.

In addition, Kelly says more and more women are the primary breadwinners in their families - which means they have more say on where and how money is spent and invested.

This is the tenth anniversary of the Smart Women Smart Money conference.
