Robin understands that creating jobs is one of the most effective ways to grow the Illinois economy, provide more resources to the state, and protect Illinois tax dollars. As Treasurer, Robin will continue to promote programs that help bring more job opportunities to Illinois.

Record of Accomplishment

As a state representative, Robin sponsored legislation to increase the minimum wage, voted to require businesses that receive state economic assistance to meet their job creation promises, voted to safeguard unemployment insurance for workers who were locked out by their employers; and voted to allow public employees to establish unions based on card-check recognition. She also sponsored the legislation that created the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credit program that incentivized businesses to locate or expand operations in Illinois. The program is especially effective at encouraging small to medium sized businesses to create jobs in the state.

Recently, Robin worked with the State Treasurer to broker a deal for the Chicago-based Hartmarx suit company, which will help protect it from liquidation. The deal, when complete, will allow the company to be purchased at a fair price and help protect 1,000 Illinois jobs. Robin also helped implement the Treasurer's Green Energy program that offered low-interest loans to help incentivize businesses to go green and become more energy efficient, saving tax dollars in the long run while creating new Illinois jobs.
